Corpus Christi Movie
The Corpus Christi Movie is causing some strong reactions. Have you heard of it? There is a play by Terrence McNally called “Corpus Christi,” which portrays a gay Jesus and gay apostles. Set in Corpus Christi (body of Christ), Texas in the 1950s, it premiered in 1998 at the Manhattan Theatre Club in New York City.
The play should not be confused with a documentary film (1997) also named Corpus Christi which was made by filmmakers Gerard Mordillat and Jerome Prieur. The film explores the historical figure of Jesus and in no way portrays Jesus as gay. It has no connection whatsoever to the McNally play.
There is an email circulating which says that the “Corpus Christi Movie” (distinct from the documentary mentioned above) is going to be released (summer of 2009) as a movie. The email said:
“Our country Is In desperate need of continued prayer for this type of thing along with other things that are happening in our nation.
The movie Corpus Christi is due to be released this June to August.
This disgusting film set to appear in America later this year and it depicts Jesus and his disciples as homosexuals! As a play, this has already been in theatres for a while. It’s called Corpus Christi which means ‘The Body of Christ.’ It’s a revolting mockery of our Lord. But, we can make a difference. That’s why I am sending this e-mail to you. If you do send this around, we may be able to prevent this film from showing in America.
Apparently, some regions in Europe have already banned the film. We need a lot of prayers and a lot of e-mails. As a Christian I want to take a stand in what I believe in and stop the mockery of Jesus Christ our Savior. At the risk of a bit of inconvenience, I’m forwarding this to all I think would appreciate it. Please help us prevent such offenses against our Lord. It will take you less than 2 minutes to pass it on.
If you are not interested, or do not have the two minutes it will take to do this, please don’t complain when God does not have time for you, because He is far busier than we are.
Remember, Jesus said ‘Deny Me on earth and I’ll deny you before my Father.'”
There are two things I would like to bring out in regard to the email text above:
1. Freedom of Expression
“Prevent the Corpus Christi movie from showing?” How? And on what grounds? There has to be a reasonable basis for any attempts to prevent it. Christians who disseminate the sort of information in this email, petitions etc. are probably doing so without thinking of the implications regarding freedom of expression and, ultimately, freedom of conscience.
There are those in the Christian world who are pushing for legislative actions with regard to religious activity on such issues as prayer in school, posting of the ten commandments in public places etc. While we might object to certain forms of expression, when we push for legislative actions to restrict or ban such things the effect can be to, in some way, restrict the freedom of other people. Others must be allowed the freedom even to speak against our Lord; they have the right to do so, just as we have the right to speak the truth against religious (or other) persecution or error wherever we see it.
When we push for such restrictions we are setting a precedent (government interfering with religious liberty and freedom of expression) that could someday impinge on our own liberty in similar areas.
We should not promote the idea of using the state to silence those with whom we disagree. Rather, what we should do is to share the truth about God.
Also, using any kind of action (except prayer) against the release of such a movie is actually contrary to the character of God who does not use force against His enemies even though it might (at first glance in the Bible) seem so.
2. The Corpus Christi Movie is a Hoax.
If you were to take the time to check out the following websites:
http://www.snopes.com/politics/religion/gayjesus.asp
http://urbanlegends.about.com/od/moviesandtheater/a/gay_jesus_movie.htm
you would find that there is no such thing as “The Corpus Christi Movie” talked about in the email and that such email rumors have been circulating since at least 2000. The Corpus Christi movie is not even indexed at the Internet Movie Database (www.imdb.com) and Google doesn’t show anything for it.
Note that more recent listings at the Internet Movie Data Base (IMDB) for “Corpus Christi” are not for any 2009 release as suggested by the email.
Satan operates on fear. As Christians (while we want to be informed of what is true) we should be very careful about spreading anything that can generate fear (even if it is true).
“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” (2 Tim 1:7)
“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.” (1 John 4:18)
So, when you receive such messages in your email in box please check them out using sources like the three above (and there are others) before you forward it. Truth is not served by spreading rumors and you may only be spreading (an even unwarranted) fear.
We are told to test the spirits:
“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.” (1 John 4:1)
The same could be said for testing our emails. A major part of trying or testing them is testing their source! So please do that. However, if you are – like this page is doing – warning against intolerance or attempts to restrict freedoms, that is OK. Even God will not impose on our free wills.
Also, think twice about taking part in petitions or like actions that would restrict others freedom of expression. God gives us all a free will, even a right to choose to follow Him or not. Correctly understanding this is a wonderful revelation.
Rather than worry about people who might promote the Corpus Christi Movie, we would be better to share with others – and show in our own lives – true examples of Christianity.
Incidentally, Terrence McNally, who was responsible for the play, grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Before You Comment – Read This
Some of your comments (below) got me thinking and while I haven’t changed the text above I would like to shift my stand somewhat from the idea of defending freedom of expression (that can hurt people, as some of you have pointed our in your excellent comments) to defending freedom of conscience without the threat of force. Obviously, there is a fine line and that line is different for every person. We all need to exercise tolerance towards others and, of course, that should include those who would think to make or promote material that is offensive to others. Be clear that I am not defending the production of such material.
The Corpus Christi Movie and Freedom of Expression – Any Thoughts or Comments?
The purpose of this web page is to make a statement about freedom of expression. I do not want it to become a debate about the Corpus Christi Movie itself or its subject matter. All posts will be moderated and possibly edited to maintain a high quality of content. Very short submissions or those that don’t appear to contribute significantly will probably not be posted.– Ray Foucher, moderator

More Fear Than Reality
Thank you for a fair and balanced assessment of the film (the 1997 documentary) in question. The origin of the email in question was likely based more on fear that the movie would be made than reality. I am the director of a documentary film which has just completed post production and is about to begin the festival circuit. The film is Corpus Christi: Playing With Redemption and it is indeed based on a particular touring production of the play Corpus Christi by Terrence McNally. The documentary explores issues of where gay men and women belong or do not belong spiritually and why they would want to return to religions that look down on them. I just wanted to clear up the time line regarding these email circulations. The play opened in 1998, a film version of the play was discussed as early as 1999, this particular production resurrected the play so to speak in 2006 and the film began production shortly thereafter. While I would certainly not hesitate to make a film version of the play it is the about-to-be-released documentary that has likely stirred the fire again on this email.

Corpus Christi Movie Debate – The Problem
It sounds like your documentary “explores issues of where gay men and women belong or do not belong spiritually and why they would want to return to religions that look down on them.” A big part of the problem is that religious people would look down on or even hate anyone. It doesn’t say much for Christians. The Gospel says to love even your enemies. It is possible to love and wish the best for someone while not agreeing with something they do or believe.

To what extent should people be allowed freedom of expression?
I understand the value of freedom of expression and speech etc. but by that same logic, you could suggest that Christians abandon the fight against pornography because people are entitled to view what they want. While this is true, the presence of pornography virtually everywhere is a major temptation to the majority of Christians. Also, consider child pornography. Would you suggest that it is a man’s right to freedom of expression when he uploads child pornography?
So the real question is, to what extent do you propose freedom of expression can be practiced?
April 8, 2011 @ 1:52 pm
You Make a Good Point
Thank you for your thoughts. Your comment is well taken. I have added a paragraph at the bottom of my page (See – Before You Comment – Read This) revising my position as a result of yours and others comments. There has to be limits on freedom of expression. The question is just where those limits should be. You mentioned pornography and child pornography – society steps in to those and other areas and sets standards and limits. Everyone sets their own personal standards. The Christian should set a very high personal standard. I think of this verse:
“He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?” (Micah 6:8)
I understand it in this way:
In regards to our personal standards and behaviour we should follow the most just, correct and highest standard we can.
In regards to others we should love mercy and allow them to follow their own conscience (Obviously there must be limits on behaviour where it begins to affect others.)
In regards to God, we should walk humbly because we are only His creation, He is the creator and is far higher than us in wisdom.

The Corpus Christi Movie and Mohammed
Just dare to depict the “Prophet” Mohammed in such a light and watch the Mohammedans kick up a storm. Won’t happen. People are too afraid of bombs and terrorists. (Louisiana, USA)

Its not just Christians that believe in Jesus
I am also a Muslim and I find this disturbing because our beloved prophet of GOD is being portrayed as a gay person. Its not just Christians that are bitter about this but even Muslims as well because as every true Muslim your faith is not complete until you believe in all of the prophets of GOD who arrived before prophet MOHAMED and Jesus was one of them so if this movie is true it should be stopped.

You Have Your Corpus Christi Movie Facts Correct
The documentary I mention refers to the current documentary that is about to be released. I believe this was the documentary the previous commenter was referring to as well. I think you have your facts correct There was indeed another documentary titled Corpus Christi before the play opened.
> 1997 Corpus Christi documentary about the life of Christ is released
> 1998 Corpus Christi play opens. The play imagines a Jesus character growing up gay in 1950’s Texas
> 2006-2010 Reimagining of the play opens
> 2011 Corpus Christi: Playing With Redemption, a documentary about the 2006-2010 production of the play is about to begin a festival run.
I meant to express that the film shows real men and women who were ousted, shunned and even hated at times by certain individuals. Certainly not by a religion as a whole. The idea of Christianity, I believe, is based on a concept of love not hate. It is individuals who twist bible verses to fit their own agenda and then lean on these verses to call others sinners and make them feel like their natural feelings are wrong; they are the ones who may be filled with fear or hate at times.
Many Christians say God does not make mistakes. So one would argue a natural feeling of pure love is not a mistake or even a sin. Jesus lead his life in a way that taught people to love their fellow man. So if someone leans on a bible verse to hurt another human being they have not chosen Jesus.
I am certainly happy to receive “updates”, “monthly prophesy newsletters” or whatever you choose to call them. I think open and respectful communication like yours is the best way to expand our own consciousness, explore different ways of thinking and allows us to see things more clearly. The way you fairly put out the facts as you knew them really touched me and compelled me to write. It would be my good fortune to continue to hear from you.

The Corpus Christi Movie – Is it Really a Hoax???
Hmm! After receiving the e-mail-I wanted to check the validity before I sent it on. Most of what I’ve found says its a hoax. Then I found this site talking about it. As a Christian, I agree with several things you say but – yes, here comes the but – you say imdb.com does not list it. Imdb does list a movie called Corpus Christi to be in theaters in 2012 but you have to be a paid subscriber to access any information. So instead of sending the email on – I guess I will pray and take a wait and see attitude until more true facts are released.
I know in the past there have been movies released that were really bad movies that at the beginning did good business because certain church groups were protesting but after the protest died down and word of mouth came out about how boring the movie really was – sales dropped off. And, sadly, if the hype is true, this is NOT the first movie depicting Christ as homosexual.

The movie referred to in the original email was a hoax. What you see listed at IMDB is for the film Corpus Christi: Playing With Redemption. The Producer of it also commented in this forum – see the post “You Have Your Corpus Christi Movie Facts Correct” This was posted by the producer of the film mentioned above and he likely knows the history.
You make a good point though that publicity, even negative, by people protesting something they disagree with can help to promote something like this. Praying and individually trying to lead others to the truth are perhaps the best options.

Info Is Incorrect
Your information is incorrect. First, there was the play, which does in fact depict Christ as gay. And secondly, there was a documentary about the play which continues to promote the play and its topic. (Idaho, USA)

Just the Facts, Please
The facts speak for themselves.
There was, according to the report, a play depicting Christ and His disciples as being gay.
There was also, according to the report, a documentary on this subject.
If this had been concerning any other religion, besides Christianity, there would have been a worldwide uproar and the play or any other negative depiction of the religious leader would have been banned.
Christians have been taught to, “turn the other cheek,” but we will always voice our opinions when it comes to proclaiming the truth about our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
One day EVERYONE will know and confess that Jesus is Lord…..but those who have not accepted Him as Savior will not see the rewards that He has for His followers.
Those are the facts in the matter.

The Corpus Christi Movie a Distraction
Hi there. This kind if discussion is a distraction. We are all made in God’s image and all filled with His Spirit. We have a message of joy and redemption and new life for everyone. This hoax is designed by someone to show to the world that Christians panic about homosexuality. (sadly, what’s new?)
I wish Christians panicked about bankers, and cheats and fraudsters, war mongers, and murderers as much!
Do not forget that all art is fiction. The silly pictures of the blond, blue-eyed Christs that were on the walls of UK primary schools are a case in point. Please everyone learn to handle art as it is; if you don’t like, it don’t watch it, look at it, buy it, or listen to it. Remind people that it is art and for any of us who have had that amazing encounter with the Holy Spirit we know the difference between truth and untruth, and what is counterfeit. I can imagine the Devil rubbing his hands…..(I speak imaginatively as an artist) “Oh no, those Christians are doing something really worthwhile, loving their neighbours, caring for the sick, preaching to those in prison. I will put a stop to that, a bit of homosexuality will get them all off track!
As a Christian, and an artist and a gay woman, I greet you all, brothers and sisters! (UK)

Prayer re The Corpus Christi Movie
Prayer is incredibly powerful, and tonight I will certainly pray for Mr. McNalley and anyone else who does not realize that when we die, we will stand alone before our Lord Jesus Christ and be judged. We should pray fervently and with love for all sinners, including ourselves. At the same time our Lord could have walked by the money changers in the temple and respected their free will, but he did not. The martyrs, who were the seed of our Lord’s Holy Church, wagered their lives for their faith. Should we not wager our freedom of expression to defend what is holy? Whether this movie is a hoax or not, there is still plenty of evil to combat. Abortions Matt 18:14 have continued to mount, and gay so-called marriage Rom 1:26 is being taught to our children as a normal life option. So if we all sit on our hands there won’t be a handbasket big enough. Besides, the sin of omission is one of the greatest sins of all. (Covington, Louisiana, USA)

The Corpus Christi “Movie” – An Abomination
The pseudo-film or idea of it, is still an abomination to a majority of people – religious and non-religious.

September 9, 2011 @ 9:33 pm
Angelo, what you say is, no doubt, correct. It is just important for Christians to not have a reaction that further alienates people who think differently than they do. In all areas of behaviour, we must be able to separate the sinner from the sin. After all we are all sinners; we may just have different favorite sins.
Again, the point of what I have written on about the Corpus Christie Movie is that everyone should be allowed freedom of expression. I expect that someday that right will be removed from Christians – along the way to tighter restrictions such as not being able to buy or sell without accepting the Mark of the Beast (Revelation 19:20) Christians should treat everyone, regardless of their actions, beliefs or lifestyle in a Christ-like manner.

And What About this Abomination?
“Inspired by Terrence McNally’s “controversial” play about a young gay Jesus, Corpus Christi: Playing with Redemption follows a group of actors who began production on the play four years ago in a small church …”
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1697891/plotsummary
This is not freedom of speech, it is denigrating the person of Jesus, distorting the facts of history and dis-respecting a whole religion and its followers. If there is means in the hands of someone that can prevent it from playing, you should do it or share how we can. For those who claim that it is freedom of speech, I would like to see you repeating that after reading a story about you, your children or any of your family in the news saying a bundle of *&%# and claiming that it is true. These are two separate things.

I Must (Mostly) Agree With You
Thank you, Ricardo for your comments. Of course, you are now talking about a play that is not a hoax. For the most part, I agree with your comments. I just believe we have to be careful in attempting to restrict the freedom of others. I have added a paragraph – Before You Comment – to the page to show that I am thinking it is more freedom of conscience than freedom of expression that should be protected. As I heard someone say once “your freedom ends where my nose starts.” People who produce material that is disrespectful or hurtful to the feelings of others are going too far.
Please note that I don’t pretend to have all the wisdom to resolve such issues.
April 22, 2011 @ 12:33 pm
I am against the Corpus Christi movie
Its ridiculous how people can come up with such movies or plays against God.They are just taking it for granted and if we people don’t voice our concerns against such movies, its as good as if we are letting the evil flourish. It’s time they stop this nonsense and start reading the Bible and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal the truth to them.

Corpus Christi Movie Clarification
When I say on the web page “there is no such thing as the Corpus Christi movie” I am referring to the rumor of a movie supposedly to be released in 2009 as per the email hoax. That does not mean there won’t be another movie on the same topic released future to that. What you are seeing at the IMDB is a reference to a soon-to-be-released (as of March 2011) film Corpus Christi: Playing With Redemption that the first commenter mentioned – and he is the producer of it.

Painful Disgust
Although there is no such movie to date the ordeal still brings me on the verge of tears and unrivaled anger in my heart. The fact that such a play as this one and “Him” has been around for years is disturbing. The Blasphemous behavior of mankind is a terrible sign of the times. The day awaits us and we still have not grasped the understanding principle of submission to the Father who has adorned us with all. Yes, for those who do not believe this would seem foolish but foolish as it may sound I would rather have lived my whole live seeking after my Lord’s kingdom and be fooled than to spend my life rejecting him and be accursed/cast out.

Our doings here on earth determines our place in the heart of God our Creator
I am one of those who was deceived by the devil that its okay to be a homosexual but by the love of God my Creator, He sent His Holy Spirit to convict me – helped me understand that homosexuality is a sin. I accepted His love and forgiveness-now I’m happy because I know I’m living in the right way(I’m living in a normal life). To those who act in Corpus Christi – if they are still alive – I hope that they will realize and come to know that after this life THERE IS JUDGEMENT! I cannot blame them for being a homosexual and they still have the chance to be forgiven but in doing such a movie like this/ doing blasphemy to Jesus my Lord – WOE ON THEM – its like they bring judgement for themselves; also with the author or director of that play. We, people must accept that we have SOUL that when our body will die our SOUL will return to the One who gave it to us and He will judge us according to what we have done here on earth!

The Corpus Christi Movie – Don’t Let it Distract You
Fear of the unknown can often cause people to create such filth. I want to suggest that we who understand the life of Christ, we who believe in our hearts should not pay attention to all the ungodly commotion around us. We should just remain focused as this is only a distraction for us from what is important. There is nothing in the Holy Bible that could lead to such a story line but what a man thinkest in his heart so he is, lives, speaks etc. What a mind to want to depict Christ in this form! Don’t get distracted. Stay focused. God bless you.

Yashoni, thank you for your comments. It is easy to get distracted by others comments and by the overwhelming amount of information available everywhere these days. I am trying to keep focused on understanding what the Word of God itself says first of all. And then to write pages and otherwise share the Word with people so that they can know what the future holds, what God has in store for them and especially of His wonderful character and great love. I believe understanding that truth will overwhelm people’s desire to spend time with such things as is the subject here. Thank your for your encouragement.

Dear beloved brothers and sisters..
I must admit, at first I was ashamed to react so quickly to this rumor. That is what it can do. When we let too much emotion take control of ourselves, we tend to do things spontaneously without having a clear conscience.
In this remark, I agree with the author for giving people the “freewill” to talk or do anything. Although Jesus Christ as our Father and God intended us to use this “freewill” in goodness towards Him.
Brothers and sisters, I beg of you.. PLEASE-PLEASE do not ever forget that our God (Jesus Christ) is Almighty. Should anything happen, we ARE THE ONE who should seek protection and refuge in HIM not otherwise.
Our Lord DOES NOT NEED ANYONE TO DEFEND HIM for HE IS GOD. The Creator of you and me as well as the people that are planning to make this deluded movie.
Remember Jesus Christ foretold that this would happen:
“Woe unto the world because of occasions of stumbling! for it must needs be that the occasions come; but woe to that man through whom the occasion cometh!” (Matthew 18:7)
May the Lord be with us all.

Response:
Thank you for your response. Yes, God is quite capable of taking care of Himself.
Note that I am advocating more “freedom of conscience” than the right to “do anything” one pleases.
There is a fine line in what is an appropriate reaction and this line will be different for each person according to their understanding of God’s standards and our responsibility.
And He does want us to rely on Him for protection and for all our needs. I really like this verse:
“Thou openest thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing.” (Psalms 145:16)
And I like it not just because of the assurance of His care but because it tells me something about Jesus’ character.
And, of course God is very concerned about people who put so much attention and effort into much of modern media and “the big E” (the entertainment industry) either as producers or consumers. We should be learning of Him and spending some time in His word. I know for many people this is a very foreign idea but Bible study, when done correctly is very rewarding and I’ll end with this thought for non-believers – if there is a God and you ignore Him and His offer of eternal life, you have lost everything. But, if there is no God and you follow what you believe to be His ways you will have a happier life now and lose nothing in eternity. You have nothing to lose if you follow Him.

If a platoon of straight American soldiers fighting overseas to successfully stop the slaughter of hundreds of people and spread of that evil, if most of them died doing that, do you think it would be ok with their families and love ones to be portrayed as gay? A total lie is not freedom of expression when it is about real people. My Savior is very real. He came to give His life for all sinners including me. The whole premise of Christianity rests on the fact that He is sinless. How could He help us if He’s not without sin. So yes, if a movie comes out portraying Him any other way, we need to object loudly.

Pray for McNally’s Soul
I’ve never heard of this play, or the future movie coming out.
I was sent an email from my sister about this movie to send to other email addresses. I don’t understand how that alone is going to stop this movie from coming out. People, I think need to, in some way, contact the studio where this movie is being made. We need to bombard the cast members with our feelings and let them know that we will try to make sure that our friends, family and others do not see it. Why should anyone pay money to see this kind of trash?
I once wrote a short paper about freedom in America and how it has gone haywire. However, that’s beside the point right now. Right now, I don’t know what to believe and I don’t know what I, as a Christian should or even could do about this type of thing! I hope someone with more clout, money or whatever, will do what most of us can’t do – like News People, Magazine Editors and perhaps even someone in Government. They could really help, if they would use their influence to keep this movie from being promoted and from being released.
This is what the Lord Jesus said would take place in the last days, so it is no surprise. I feel sorry for Mr. Terrence McNally. He is only showing how degraded he’s become, and how unaware he is, as to his own judgment by God Almighty. Satan is alive and well on Planet Earth, but God has already judged him, because God is still on the Throne and Satan’s doom is certain. It’s just too bad that people like Mr. McNally, have no clue to the fact that Satan resides within them and they are doing exactly what he wants. Just like Eve in the garden of Eden, he’s been blinded to the Truth. Poor man! I will pray for his soul.

Corpus Christi: End of times
The Bible clearly states when His coming gets closer, there will be rumors of wars, nature disasters, illnesses, sickness and many other things. This film, play or whatever you want to call it if it really exists or not is just another sign that our Lord Jesus is near to come for His bride. As true born Christians we were sent to preach the gospel to those that are sick and needy, who knows if in the future those actors will repent of their actions and come to know the true Lord and Saviour of our lives. God works wonders and miracles and this may be a way for this lost people to find their way to Jesus. The world is searching for that something to fill the emptiness they have in their lives: they try to fill it with drugs, sex, alcohol and many other illicit things but truly the only one to fill that emptiness is Jesus Christ. Please if you are a truly born Christian worry about your name being written in the book of life and of spreading the Gospel to all those that may die without accepting Jesus in their heart. Things like this should not startle us Christians but should be something to encourages us to stand and go and win one more soul for Jesus Christ. REMEMBER THAT WHATEVER PEOPLE DO THEY DO THAT AGAINST GOD AND THE HOLY SCRIPTURES SAY THAT WHAT YOU REAP THAT YOU WILL SOW BE IT GOOD OR BAD YOU WILL GET YOUR REWARD. God Bless everyone and keep praying for everyone to get saved before Jesus comes in glory for His bride and if you are reading this and don’t understand what this means go to the Bible and ask God to reveal to you His wonders. GOD BLESS YOU ALL. (Los Angeles, California)

Immediate Reaction
I received this email from my mom and I immediately Googled “Corpus Christi” to verify whether it’s true or not. I’m glad to have come across this page. It only goes to show that we are to take utmost care and exercise precaution in sending/forwarding, most of all, believing email messages.
I felt offended by the suggestion that Jesus is gay not because I think being gay is wrong, I’m a gay man myself. I felt offended because it is blasphemy to depict the Lord in any way other than the truth contained in the Bible.
I agree that we should not impede upon other’s freedom of expression, rather we must increase our efforts to share the truth and dispel any claim contrary to it.

Hi Sean
Thank you for your comment. Yes, freedom of expression is the point I am largely making. I also do not think it is a proper depiction of the Lord and certainly not according to the Bible. However, our action to counteract this should be to spread truth not to censor or condemn others.

Freedom of Expression
We must always remember that in taking others freedoms away we also take our own away. I’ve tried to make this point about Freedom of expression for so long to so many people. You put it very well. Thanks!

Thanks so much for going at length to express your opinion and even reminding us of the (principle of) freedom of expression. After I had circulated the message about that Corpus Christi (movie), somebody sent me your response. Your presentation is very good and it even reminds us that our LORD GOD himself allows us to have free will in terms of our choices; He doesn’t force us even to follow or worship Him, but the truth shall and will always set us free. Neither has He given us the Spirit of fear. So let those who want to blaspheme do so as their free will, choice or freedom of expression but let us also remember – judgment day is and will certainly soon come to pass. Be blessed and continue to praise our Lord Jesus Christ like there is no tomorrow.

Thank you Ronnie for recognizing the fact that God honors our free will and gives us freedom of expression.
By the way, I just posted a study on blasphemy and what it means. While many people would label this movie as blasphemous it does not necessarily mean that those responsible for it have committed what is commonly termed the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit (or the unpardonable sin). God is still trying to reach those people along with everyone else. And until anyone finally, by stubborn resistance, turns off that pleading voice there will be hope for them. We serve a very merciful and loving God Who is indeed worthy of our praise.

Another example of the decaying of the world. This movie has established a new low. Let us pray that there will be a fierce but peaceful boycott of this movie. You would think that our current COVid-19 worldwide pandemic would be perceived by humans as a warning statement by the Lord that He is telling us to be mindful of our earthly, self absorbing behaviors. We all need to return to Him. Even if some say that there is no such movie, it is the proper time to seek the Almighty.

Share Truth in Love
Out of our love for Christ and others, we need to use our freedom of speech to fearlessly guard others from being led astray by sharing the truth with them. However, the truth is not always going to feel good and be what others want to hear. The truth is always found in God and the Bible, His Holy Word. We need to confront lies by praying and speaking up with love for what is true.
Galatians 6:1 mentions “Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted.”
James 4:17 says, “So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.”
Throughout the Gospels of the Bible, there are many examples of how Jesus confronted lies with truth and confronted a person’s sins with love for the sinner. A few examples are: John 3:1-21 and Matthew 4:1-11. If we are ever in doubt about what to do in a given situation, we need to go to God in prayer and read what is in the Bible first.

Believer
Man’s law freedom of speech or expression or what one believes is just that man made laws! There is nothing in the Bible to back these laws that have been set by man. However following the laws of God would prompt me to be against some film of this nature if there were one! Just because man has put the law of freedom of speech into place do not mean it is appropriate to express this at any and all cost! In the end, God’s laws will rule and man’s laws will fall and fail! My point is, according to man’s laws, I have the right to speak my opinion about this matter and this is were I stand: if we continue to follow man’s laws we are doomed for hell! At what cost and how far will man go to express themselves with freedom of speech etc…
We now have 12-year olds filming live suicides and there is so much evil in this world and just because our law says we have freedom of speech and opinions DOES NOT MAKE IT RIGHT!!! I pray for our world that God will come back and make things right again! 12 May 2021

In America the religious freedom and rights of Christians are under attack. We’re being forced to accept the gay agenda and if we do not we’re told we are hate mongers, timey and not Progressive thinkers when we stand on the biblical Foundation of God. Amazingly, in a country built on Judeo-Christian values, it is the Christians who are finding themselves under attack and in need of first amendment protection.
I believe that every American should be alerted about the homosexual contents of the film Corpus Christi. Because this is a free country you may choose to watch what you want.

The Corpus Christi Movie and Freedom of Expression comment
First of all, I want to greet every true believer in the Lord Jesus Christ and may God bless and keep each one of you in His truth of the Gospel in Jesus name.
I don’t know much about this Movie to be released called Corpus Christi but I did have a look at the trailer on YouTube to have an idea of how it depicts Jesus Christ the Saviour and Lord.
I need to make my comment as a Christian that God is Holy and will never change his Word to please man. But man tries to change the Word of God (The Bible) to please himself. Therefore the reflection of Jesus Christ as accepting gay relationships or marriages is never expressed in God’s word but rather was looked at as an abomination both in the Old and New Testaments.
Please, dear Christians we need to express our views on what the Word of God stands for and pray for this movie not to be released as our society now is fragile and vulnerable to deception and anything seems to be acceptable.
As a disciple of Christ, I am using this opportunity to take a stand against perverting the gospel of Christ and depicting Him as one who condones sinful acts.
God loves sinners which we all are but does not like the acts of sin we do, and homosexuality is sinful to God but He loves the person and hates the sin.
So depicting Christ as one who will accept it is untrue. He loves the people but will say “repent and sin no more” just as He said to the adulterous woman caught in the act of adultery.
So my conclusion is that we believers in Christ should stand for what we know is true and express our view of the true Christ who loves sinners which we all are but wants us all to repent and live God’s way not our sinful way which this movie seems to express as okay to live in our sinful ways which is so false and untrue of Christ.
